The Baština Journal is a scientific journal of the Institute, which has been published since 1991 and is ranked as a journal of national importance M 51 (based on the Ministry’s categorization for 2017, p. 50). It is edited in accordance with the Act on Editing Scientific Journals, and is conceived as a multidisciplinary scientific journal so that it can absorb papers from heterogeneous scientific fields, in order to meet the needs of employed scientists from each of the scientific disciplines in the Institute’s scientific research program. This approach enables the publication of a wide range of papers in the field of: literature, archeology, history, cultural history, art history, political science, ethnology, ethnomusicology, sociology. They also publish edited materials, polemics, critiques and reviews.
The members of the editorial board are mainly the employees of the Institute, but the international character of the Journal is provided by scientists from Russia and the United States.
The journal is published twice a year, and the topics that dominate are in line with the current project of the Institute, ie they deal with the area of Kosovo and Metohija and the areas that gravitate towards the province, but there are also papers that deal with the entire area of Serbia, Yugoslavia, the Balkans, Europe, and even the world.
The goal of the journal’s editorial board is to incorporate eminent scientists into the editorial board in the coming period and attract quality researchers in order for the journal to progress.
