Nevena Petković

Nevena Petković was born in 1995. She completed her primary education in Kučevo and Grammar School in Smederevo. At the Faculty of Philosophy, Department of Ethnology and Anthropology, she graduated in 2018 with the thesis “Approaches to Understanding and Representation of ‘Reality’ in the Ethnographic Films of David MacDougall”, under the supervision of Prof. Slobodan Naumović. At the same Department, in 2019, she defended her master’s thesis on the topic “Types of Political Involvement in Documentary Films about the Fall of Yugoslavia”, also under the supervision of Prof. Slobodan Naumović. She enrolled in PhD studies in the academic year 2019/2020 and worked on the thesis “Strategies of Identification of Internally Displaced Persons from Kosovo and Metohija: Anthropological Analysis of Oral and Written Narratives about the Home”, under the supervision of Prof. Gordana Gorunović, and co-supervision of Prof. Slobodan Naumović. She successfully completed her PhD studies in 2025.

During her bachelor studies, in 2016, she spent the second semester of her second year at the Department of Social Anthropology, Panteion University in Athens, through the Erasmus+ student mobility program. She was a scholarship recipient of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development at the Institute for Serbian Culture, Priština – Leposavić, from 2020 to 2022. She has been employed at the Institute for Serbian Culture, Priština – Leposavić, since July 2022.

Her primary research interests include political anthropology, the anthropology of folklore, the anthropology of literature, and visual anthropology.

She speaks English fluently and has a working knowledge of Russian.
